ST. LOUIS - Bradley University men's basketball player Dodie Dunson (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington H.S.) has been selected the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today.  Dunson is being honored for his performances during the period of Feb. 7-13.

A 6-foot-3 senior guard, Dunson is one of 10 national finalists for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in men's basketball and the social work major boasts a 3.67 cumulative grade point average at Bradley.  On the court, Dunson averaged 16.0 points per game in two games last week, shooting 63.2 percent (12-19) from the field, 60.0 percent (3-5) from 3-point range and 71.4 percent (5-7) from the free throw line.  In last Wednesday's game at Missouri State, Dunson led the Braves with 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor.

Now in its 12th year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program is sponsored by Prairie Farms, Roberts and Hiland Dairies.  On a weekly basis, the conference honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom.

To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.  Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible.  In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
