PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior guard Dodie Dunson (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) picked up his second scholar-athlete of the week of the day after he was named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday afternoon. Earlier in the day, Dunson was announced as the Prairie Farms Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
One of 10 national finalists for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in men's basketball, Dunson averaged 16.0 points per game in two games last week, shooting 63.2 percent (12-19) from the field, 60.0 percent (3-5) from 3-point range and 71.4 percent (5-7) from the free throw line. In last Wednesday's game at Missouri State, he led the Braves with 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor. A social work major, Dunson owns a 3.67 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Dunson and the Braves return to action Saturday, playing a 2 p.m. non-conference game at Tennessee-Martin.
