ST. LOUIS - For the second time this season and the third time in his career, Bradley senior guard Andrew Warren (Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) is the Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office this afternoon.
Warren led the Braves to a pair of wins last week by scoring 23 points in both games, Tuesday's 69-61 home victory versus Creighton and Saturday's 69-66 win at Southern Illinois. After scoring 20 second-half points against the Bluejays, Warren nailed a go-ahead 3-pointer with 15.9 seconds left for a 67-66 lead, then made two free throws with 3.6 seconds remaining to seal Saturday's win at Southern Illinois.
The 6-foot-6 shooting guard also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in the two games last week while moving into 14th place on Bradley's all-time scoring list with 1,481 career points.
The Valley's leading scorer at 19.3 points per game this season, Warren previously won the league's Player-of-the-Week Award Dec. 27, 2010 and Dec. 18, 2007. His third honor also marks the third MVC Player-of-the-Week selection for Bradley this season, as redshirting senior guard Sam Maniscalco claimed the award Nov. 22.
Warren and the Braves will return to action Wednesday night when they visit Missouri State in a 7 p.m. clash at JQH Arena that will be televised by the MVC-TV Network on FS Midwest (the game will be tape-delayed on Comcast SportsNet Chicago at 3 a.m. Thursday). Bradley will return home for two games Saturday night versus Evansville and Feb. 15 versus Northern Iowa. Bradley has introduced two ticket promotions for the season's three remaining home games: a $16 Family Pack (2 adults and 2 youth) and a $4 Ceiling Fan special for seats in the top 10 rows of Carver Arena. Both ticket options are available only on game days at the Carver Arena and Renaissance Coliseum box offices.
