ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Bradley women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 7-0 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson Tuesday afternoon to kick of the Braves' first trip to the state of Florida since the 2002-03 season. Freshman Meredith McDonagh (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) was the only BU player to win a set, dropping a three-set decision at #4 singles.
McDonagh took the opening set of her match against Egzona Morina at #4 singles 6-4, but fell short in her bid for her team-leading seventh singles victory of the season. Morina rallied to take the final two sets 6-4, 10-8 as McDonagh fell to 2-2 at #4 singles this spring.
Fellow freshman Adele Henke (Edina, Minn./Edina) was defeated at #3 singles by Julie Prantl 6-2, 6-2 to drop her record to 6-6 on the year and the Knights claimed the other four singles matches to complete the sweep.
Bradley (2-10 overall) also dropped all three doubles matches, with the duo of freshman Ashley Roth (Birmingham, Mich,/Birmingham Seaholm) and sophomore Brigitte Graf (Double Oak, Texas/Faustina Academy) highlighting doubles play with an 8-2 loss at #3 doubles. Fairleigh Dickinson improved to 4-6 overall with the victory.
The Braves close out their trip to Orlando, Fla., Wednesday with a 9 a.m. match against Coastal Carolina.
