PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore pitcher John Nasshan (Niles, Ill./Niles West) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after pitching his first career complete game last week.
Nasshan held Air Force to just five hits in a complete game 6-0 victory against the Falcons Saturday at the RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational in Lakeland Fla. He walked one and struck out five, while not allowing a runner past first base until consecutive one-out singles in the ninth. Nasshan is 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA in four starts this spring. A secondary education major, Nasshan owns a 3.24 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Nasshan and the Braves return to action Wednesday afternoon, playing Jacksonville State at 1:30 p.m. (CDT) in Lakeland, Fla.
