PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley volleyball head coach Jenny Maurer announced former Nova Southeastern standout Emily Carle has joined the BU coaching staff as an assistant coach.  Carle joins the Braves after two years as a volunteer assistant coach at Central Michigan.

During her time in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., she helped guide the Chippewas to a 31-28 record and CMU's first Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinal appearance since 1996.  Carle helped train three-time All-MAC middle blocker Kaitlyn Schultz each of the past two seasons.  In addition, she helped mentor two-time All-MAC performer Lauren Krupsky.

"Emily immediately caught my attention with her competitive, dynamic personality and her tenacious attitude; both characteristics that made her very successful as a player and will serve her well in helping to build a winning program at Bradley," Maurer said.  "In addition to being an intelligent individual, she has a great deal of experience in video and statistical analysis, which will be critical for both scouting and recruitment purposes.  In addition, her experience as a middle blocker will balance our staff from a positional training standpoint. We are excited to move forward as a complete staff with our newest addition to the Bradley Braves' Volleyball Family."

A native of Missouri City, Texas, Carle graduated in 2009 from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with a degree in marketing and a psychology minor.  She is currently working towards her masters in athletic administration from Central Michigan.

A four year starter at middle blocker, she helped Nova Southeastern to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2007 and led the team to the Elite Eight as a senior in 2008.  An All-Region selection, she also garnered honorable mention AVCA All-American recognition after finishing her career fourth on the Sharks career kills list and finished her eligibility as the school's career blocks leader with 273 career block assists.

She worked with Boomers Volleyball Club in Fort Lauderdale for three seasons while she was an undergraduate and also worked with AVA and Texas Tornadoes in the Houston, Texas, area.
