SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Senior Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) broke her own school record in the indoor mile and finished seventh in the event at the Alex Wilson Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Loftus Field House.
Goldkamp broke her previous school record by nearly four seconds, crossing the line in a time of 4:43.70 to finish seventh in the field and her time is the among the top 40 in the nation. Her previous school record of 4:47.38 was set Feb. 12 at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.
"Mary ran away from a strong field in her heat to break the mile record again," Bradley track and field head coach Marc Burns said. "This was a big time race that raised the bar for future Braves milers. Mary has come a long way this indoor season and has set herself up for a fantastic outdoor season."
Goldkamp set school indoor records in both the 800 meters and mile in addition to earning the fifth all-conference honors of her career.
Bradley is scheduled to open the outdoor track and field season March 25 & 26.
