PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior pitcher Justin Ziegler (Lenexa, Kan./Olathe Northwest) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after going 1-0 with a save in two appearances last week.
Ziegler broke the Bradley season saves record, pitching a scoreless ninth to close out BU's 7-4 win against Illinois en route to his eighth save of the year. He also picked up a victory in the series finale against Indiana State. Ziegler struck out two and gave up three runs in the three innings of work to improve to 2-1 on the season. A graphic design major, Ziegler owns a 3.17 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Ziegler and the Braves return to action Wednesday afternoon, closing out a five-game road swing with a 3:30 p.m. game at Western Illinois.
