PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior Jackie Roth (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) went 3-for-6 with a home run and freshman Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) gave up just two earned runs in 11.2 innings of work, but Bradley managed just three runs as Missouri State completed the series sweep with 7-2 and 3-1 victories Sunday at Laura Bradley Park.

Lynch-Crumrine surrendered just eight hits and three runs (two earned) in 11.2 innings between the two games.  Unfortunately for the Braves, Missouri State's Natalie Rose was equally impressive as she gave up just one run and 10 BU hits in 11.1 innings en route to wins in both contests.

In the opening game of the doubleheader, Missouri State (20-17 overall, 8-6 MVC) scored four runs in the top of the second to take an early lead.  Madison Hargrove had a bases loaded single and a Bradley error on the play allowed a second run to cross.  Christa Gammon stole home on a delayed double steal and the Bears scored the fourth run of the frame when Kirstin Cutter reached on a fielder's choice.

Bradley (8-34 overall, 1-13 MVC) had runners at second and third with one out in the second, but came up empty and Missouri State's Lauren Eisenrich belted a three-run homer to left center in the top of the third to push the Bears lead to 7-0.

The Braves squandered a scoring chance in the fifth, leaving the bases loaded.  Roth hit a solo homer to center field in the bottom of the sixth for Bradley's first run of the game to cut the MSU lead to 7-1 and BU added another run in the bottom of the seventh.

After Bradley loaded the bases, freshman Kaycee Miller (Omaha, Neb./Papillion-LaVista) drove in a run when she reached on a fielder's choice to plate sophomore Heather Terry (Jones, Okla./Jones).  Senior Kate Singler (Witt, Ill./Nokomis/Heartland C.C.) drew a two-out walk to load the bases with two outs in the seventh, but Rose re-entered the game for Missouri State and retired the first batter she faced on one pitch to close out the 7-2 win for the Bears.

Junior Lindsay Hufeld (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) suffered the loss in the opener for BU to fall to 3-15 on the year.  Lynch-Crumrine gave up just two hits in 4.2 scoreless innings in relief of Hufeld.  Rose earned the victory for Missouri State, surrendering just two hits in 4.1 scoreless innings.

Bradley outhit Missouri State 8-6 in the nightcap, but a two-run Jenna Schwark homer in the sixth proved to be the difference in a 3-1 win for the Bears.  Missouri State capitalized on a Bradley error to open the third inning and took a 1-0 lead when Heather Duckworth scored on a two-out Tyler Porter single.

The Braves pulled even at 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the third inning.  Freshman Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) drove in Lynch-Crumrine from third with a single down the left field line to tie the game at 1-1.  Bradley had a chance to take its first lead of the series later in the inning, but left the bases loaded in the third.

Rose and the Bears got out of another jam in the fifth as the Braves left the bases loaded for the fourth time in the doubleheader and Bradley left a total of 18 runners on base in the two games.  In the top of the sixth, Schwark hit a two-run homer down the left field line to put Missouri State ahead 3-1 and Rose gave up just one hit in the final two innings to close out her third win in the series as she improved to 15-14 on the year.

Lynch-Crumrine struck out five and walked none in the complete game effort for Bradley.  In addition to scoring Bradley's only run of the game, she surrendered six hits and three runs (two earned) in the loss to fall to 1-5.

The Braves continue a season-long, seven-game homestand Wednesday with a 4 p.m. game against Northern Iowa at Laura Bradley Park.
