PEORIA, Ill. -- Coming off its lowest round of the spring at last week's Battle at the Warren, the Bradley men's golf team looks to carry that momentum into the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship which will be played Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo.

The Braves turned in their second lowest round of the year and lowest effort of the spring last week at the Battle at the Warren in Notre Dame, Ind.  Senior Coby Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) and Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) both shot 73's in the one-round event to tie for ninth to pace the Braves.

Freshman Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) is one of five players in the Missouri Valley Conference to earn individual medalist honors during the 2010-11 season and has finished in the top 10 in two of the last four events.

Thompson leads the team with a 76.7 stroke average, while Kreiter is second at 77.8 per round.  Thompson enters the final scheduled event for 2010-11 with 79 career rounds in the 70's and will likely be the fourth player in program history with 80 career sub-80 rounds.

Kreiter has carded 15 rounds in the 70's and owns the lowest round of the year for Bradley, firing a second-round 70 in the second round of the Bill Ross Intercollegiate to help highlight BU lowest round of the season (297).

Young is second on the squad behind Thompson with 17 rounds in the 70's and matched a season-best 73 last week in the Battle at the Warren.  Bradley's top finisher in each of the last two events, Young is averaging a team-best 76.8 per round over the last three tournaments.

Freshman Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) has improved by nearly a full stroke per round in the spring when compared to his fall average and is fourth on the team in stroke average and rounds in the 70's.  Sophomore Corey Verseman (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) missed the entire fall season, but has returned to play in three of the last five events and joins Thompson as the only other Brave in the lineup with MVC Championship experience.

Thompson finished 15th at last year's MVC Championship with a three-round total of 236 and has shot in the 70's in seven of his nine rounds at the league championship.  He enters the tournament with a 77.8 career average in Valley Championship play.

Monday will include 36 holes of play, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.  The tournament concludes Tuesday with one round starting with tee times off holes one and 10 starting at 8 a.m.  Live scoring for the State Farm MVC Championship will be available at www.golfstat.com
