EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Freshman Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) limited Evansville to a total of nine hits in 14 innings of work and picked up the win in both contests as she helped Bradley sweep a doubleheader from the Purple Aces Saturday afternoon.

The Braves matched a season-high with 10 runs in the opening game of the twinbill in a 10-2 victory and senior Katelyn Kegley (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) hit a three-run homer in the nightcap to highlight a 4-1 victory.  Bradley (12-38 overall, 5-17 MVC) moved within a half game of Evansville (12-39 overall, 6-17 MVC) for eighth place in the Valley standings with the doubleheader sweep.

Eight of BU's nine players in the batting order scored or drove in a run in the first game of the day, with freshman Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) going 3-for-4 at the plate to continue her hot hitting.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the second, the Braves struck for five runs in the frame to take a 5-2 lead.  Senior Denise Jilka (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) pulled Bradley even with a two-run single and sophomore Heather Terry (Jones, Okla./Jones) drove in a run with a single of her own.  The Braves pushed another run across on an Evansville error and Terry later scored on Joseph's second hit of the contest.

After giving up three hits in the first inning, Lynch-Crumrine settled down and surrendered just two hits in the final six innings of the game.  She struck out three and walked two in the complete game victory.

Kegley, who drove in six runs in the doubleheader, knocked in a pair of runs with a single in the fifth and a Jackie Roth (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) sacrifice fly gave Bradley an 8-2 advantage.  Kegley drove in her third run of the game on an RBI groundout in the seventh and senior Kate Singler (Witt, Ill./Nokomis/Heartland C.C.) scored her third run of the game when Roth also hit into a groundout to cap the 10-2 win for the Braves.

Katie Sears took the loss for the Purple Aces to fall to 0-1 on the year.  She surrendered five runs (one earned) and five hits in 1.2 innings.

In the nightcap, Bradley and Evansville combined for just three hits through the first three innings before Kegley hit a three-run homer in the fourth.  Senior Brittany Fairbairn (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East/Kankakee C.C.) had a two-out double to extend her hit streak to a career-best 11 games and Singler walked, before Kegley belted her second home run of the season to put Bradley in front 3-0.

Evansville, which managed just four hits in the day's second game, benefitted from a leadoff walk in the bottom half of the inning and eventually scored when Alicia Betancur broke up Lynch-Crumrine's shutout bid with a two-out, run-scoring single up the middle to cut the Braves lead to 3-1.

Fairbairn ripped her conference-leading sixth triple of the season in the sixth and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Singler as Bradley pushed the lead back to three runs (4-1).

Lynch-Crumrine retired the final six batters she faced to close out the win as she improved to 3-7 on the season with the two victories.  She struck out three and walked just one in the complete-game four hitter.  Taylor Perry took the loss in the circle for Evansville, dropping to 4-11 on the year.

Bradley closes out the regular season next weekend with a three-game series against Wichita State Saturday and Sunday at Laura Bradley Park.  The Braves and Shockers open the three-game set Saturday with a noon doubleheader and finish out the series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
