PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior outfielder Brittany Fairbairn (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East/Kankakee C.C.) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after hitting .563 in five games last week.
Fairbairn hit safely in all five of Bradley's games last week, going 9-for-16 with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored on one RBI. She also had three stolen bases during the week and boasted an .813 slugging percentage. Fairbairn opened the week with a 3-for-3 effort against Drake, which included two doubles and an RBI. In the weekend series against Creighton, she was 5-for-10 with a triple and three runs scored. An elementary education major, Fairbairn owns a 4.00 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Fairbairn and the Braves return to action Wednesday night, hosting Western Illinois at 6 p.m. at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria.
