PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after breaking the school record in the 800 meters at last week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Goldkamp posted a pair of top three finishes on the final day of the MVC Championship Sunday in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She opened the day with a third-place showing in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line in a time of 4:28.56. Less than an hour later, Goldkamp returned to the track and finished second in the 800 meters while breaking the school record with a time of 2:09.11. A nursing major, Goldkamp owns a 3.06 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Goldkamp is expected to receive a spot in the 1,500 meter field at next week's NCAA West Regional in Eugene, Ore.
