PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore pitcher John Nasshan (Niles, Ill./Niles West) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after giving up just two hits and one run in 8.1 innings last week.
Nasshan was the hard-luck loser in the final regular-season game of the season. He gave up just two hits and one run in 8.1 innings of work in a 1-0 loss to Wichita State. The Shockers got both of their hits and the only run in the game on a sacrifice fly in the opening inning. An elementary education major, Nasshan owns a 3.35 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Nasshan and the Braves return to action today, facing regular-season MVC champion Creighton at 9 a.m. in the opening round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Omaha, Neb.
