PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's golfer Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) and recent Bradley graduate Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) along with Ali Daly (Peosta, Iowa/Western Dubuque) were each named National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholars, according to an announcement by the NGCA. Amundrud and Deeken both earned the distinction for the second consecutive year.
The NGCA All-American Scholar Team included a total of 566 women's collegiate golfers from NCAA Division I, II & III. The criteria for selection to the team required a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and competition in at least 50 percent of the rounds scheduled during the regular season.
A Third-Team Capital One Academic All-American this past season, Amundrud was voted the 2010-11 Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year in addition to earning All-MVC honors for the second consecutive year. She ranked second in The Valley in stroke average and is a two-time First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete pick.
Amundrud broke the Bradley season record for rounds in the 70's with 27 sub-80 efforts and was a four-time MVC Player of the Week selection in 2010-11. Her 75.79 season stroke average is the second lowest season average in school history and she was a two-time medalist as a junior. An accounting major with a 3.93 cumulative grade point average, Amundrud enters her senior season with the lowest career stroke average in school history (76.75) and is third at BU with 69 career rounds in the 70's.
Deeken was a second-team Capital One Academic All-District honoree in her final season on The Hilltop after posting a career-best 79.4 season stroke average in 2010-11. An honorable mention MVC scholar-athlete, she was third on the squad and 20th in the conference in stroke average.
One of eight players in program history with 40 or more career rounds in the 70's, Deeken posted two top-10 finishes last season. She finished out her career second in career rounds played at BU (108) and her career 81.29 stroke average is 13th best at Bradley. A criminal justice major, Deeken graduated in May with a 3.94 cumulative grade point average.
Daly played in eight of 11 tournaments as a freshman, carding a season-low 77 in the second round of the Spider Invitational in Midlothian, Va. She tied for the 35th at the Spider Invite to wrap up the fall season. A mechanical engineering major, Daly finished her freshman year with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
