TUCSON, Ariz. - For the third consecutive year, the Bradley Baseball recruiting class has been ranked among the nation's best by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, according to the release of the annual rankings by the publication earlier this week.
In addition to checking in at No. 92 nationally, Bradley's class also ranks second among the eight Missouri Valley Conference schools for the second time in three years, trailing only Wichita State and ranking one place ahead of Creighton.
"We are pleased that for the third consecutive year our baseball recruiting class has been recognized as one of the top classes in the nation," said fourth-year Bradley head coach Elvis Dominguez. "This is an exceptional group of players who we feel will make an immediate impact on our program. We are confident this group of newcomers, when combined with the number of experienced returnees we have on our roster, will give us an opportunity to be successful as a program.
"Our coaching staff -- John Corbin and Sean Lyons -- deserve a lot of credit for this very talented class," Dominguez added. "It takes a great deal of time and effort to have successful recruiting and I am glad to see that their hard work has not gone unnoticed for the third year in a row. This is a great honor for Bradley University and the baseball program."
A deeper review of the rankings reveals Bradley was second only to St. John's among private schools playing in cold-weather climates, the Braves were 16th among all private institutions to make the rankings and 18th among the 21 schools on the list that play in cold-weather climates.
Bradley welcomes 10 newcomers, eight freshmen and two junior college transfers, for the 2012 season. The first-year players join a group of 23 returning Braves, giving Bradley 33 players for the program's largest squad in its 112-year history.
