PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley track and field team will have its only indoor meet in the state of Illinois when the Braves take part in the Illini Classic Saturday at the University of Illinois Armory in Champaign, Ill.
Senior Lyndsey Cleghorn (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) will open competition for the Braves at 11 a.m. in the high jump after clearing 1.52 meters in the season-opening event at Iowa's New Year's Classic Saturday.
Most of the Braves will run during the day's blue session, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Freshman Sarah McMahon (Colfax, Wis./Colfax), who won the 3,000 meters at the New Year's Classic, is expected to headline a group of six BU runners in the mile at 11:55 a.m.
Sophomore Whitney Schumacher (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) is also expected to help pace the Braves in the mile after finishing six seconds behind McMahon in the mile last week and is one of six BU runners in the field.
Freshman Kyela Specht (Munster, Ind./Munster) was Bradley's top finisher in the 600 meters at Iowa and is one of five individuals scheduled to run in the 600 at 12:15 p.m., while the trio of Emily Delvo (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Heart Griffin), Sarah Higgins (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) and Ashley Schmitt (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) will run in the 800 meters at 1:10 p.m.
Following Saturday's action at Illinois, Bradley will return to the track Jan. 27 & 28 at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind.
