Men's Golf 14th After Day One At Bill Ross

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Three individuals shot or tied season-low rounds and the Bradley men's golf team turned in its lowest round of the year with a second-round 303 during the opening day of play at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate Monday.

After a morning round 306, the Braves shot a season-best score of 303 in the afternoon to finish the day 14th in the team standings at the par-72 Milburn Golf and Country Club. 

Helping lead the way for Bradley was sophomore Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School), who is tied for 29th after rounds of 75 and 74.  Masrin finished the day two shots out of the top 20.

Junior Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) enters the final round one shot behind Masrin in a tie for 38th at 150, following up a first-round 76 with a season-best 74.  Fellow junior Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) also shot a season-best 74 in the afternoon after a first-round 79 and is three back of Gunther in a tie for 58th at 153.

Sophomore Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) carded the second-lowest opening round score on the team with a four-over 76 and closed the day tied for 71st at 157.  Junior Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) rounded out the scoring for BU, matching a season-best 79 in the morning.  Weisenborn is three shots behind Trolia in 76th at 160, after the pair both shot second-round 81's.

Tournament-host UMKC is four-under par (572) after 36 holes and owns a four-shot lead on second-place North Dakota State (576).  Arkansas State is 13 shots off the pace in third (585), with Missouri State fourth at 588.  Creighton and South Dakota ended Monday's play tied for fifth at 590 and SIU Edwardsville is seventh in the standings (592).

Western Illinois follows in eighth (594), four shots ahead of ninth-place Oral Roberts (9th - 598).  Drake and Utah State are close behind in a tie for 10th at 599 and Nebraska-Omaha is 12th (600).  Missouri Valley Conference foe Northern Iowa enters the final round in 13th (601), eight shots better than Bradley (14th - 609).

The Braves close out action at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate Tuesday with one round of play beginning at 8:30 a.m.
