Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Junior Amy Angelos (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) had a team-best 15 kills and two other Bradley players turned in double-doubles, but Missouri State used a balanced attack with five players reaching double figures in kills to top the Braves 27-25, 26-28, 25-15, 25-16 Friday at the Hammons Student Center.

Angelos, who moved into 22nd in career kills at Bradley, finished one kill short of a season-high with 15 kills and hit .294 in the loss.  Junior Lauren Zerante (Elmhurst, Ill./York) collected a match-high 20 digs to become the 11th player in school history to record 400 digs in a season.

Bradley (8-15 overall, 2-10 MVC) trailed by as many as seven points early in the first set, before rallying to pull even at 24-24 on a Courtney Keefe (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) kill.  The score was tied at 25-25 when a kill by Missouri State's Christine McCartney and ace by Carly Thomas gave the Bears a 27-25 opening-set victory.

The second set was close throughout with nine lead changes and 15 ties before Bradley rallied late to even the match at one set apiece with a 28-26 win.  Trailing 23-20, junior Alise Tupuritis (Des Plaines, Ill/Maine West) notched back-to-back kills during a 4-1 BU spurt to pull the Braves even at 24-24.  Keefe broke a 26-26 tie with her sixth kill of the second set and BU closed out the frame on a Missouri State attack error.

Missouri State (12-12 overall, 6-6 MVC) jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the third set and never looked back, taking a two-sets-to-none lead with a 25-15 victory.  The Bears collected 26 digs in the set and limited Bradley to an .024 attack percentage.

Bradley was within a point midway through the fourth set at 14-13 when Missouri State took control with a 7-0 run to build a 21-13 advantage.  The Bears went to close out the match with a 25-16 fourth-set victory, boasting a .425 attack percentage in the frame.

Tupuritis joined Angelos in double figures in kills with 13, while Keefe had 12 kills and 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.  Freshman Jessica Teel (San Antonio, Texas/Claudia Taylor Johnson) had season highs of 41 assists and 15 digs for her first career double-double to help lead Bradley

McCartney had a match-high 16 kills to pace five Missouri State players in double figures in kills.  Setter Carly Thomas finished with a triple-double, collecting 10 kills, 50 assists and 17 digs.

Bradley returns to action Saturday, playing a 7 p.m. match at Wichita State.
