PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley Basketball team began building its 2013 recruiting class today with the signing of Serbian national Stefan Zecevic (pronounced steh – FAHN | ZES – eh – vitch). The 6-foot-5 shooting wing player is currently enrolled at Lee Academy, a prep school in Maine.
A native of Kragujevac, Serbia, Zecevic will have four years of eligibility when he joins the Braves for the 2013-14 season. A former member of the Serbian U-18 National Team, Zecevic attended Asbury (Ala.) High School as an exchange student in 2011-12, where he averaged 31.5 point, 9.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game to earn class 2A, first-team all-state recognition.
“We are excited to have Stefan joining our program,” said second-year Bradley head coach Geno Ford. “He is a versatile guard that has the ability to play multiple positions in our backcourt. He's a very good shooter, has great court vision and is deceptively athletic. Right now he is at Lee Academy in Maine, where he is working on his game and lifting daily, which will help prepare him for this level.”
Zecevic has helped Lee Academy to an 8-2 record to date this season.
The 2012-13 Bradley roster includes four seniors, leaving three available scholarships in this year's recruiting class.
Bradley (2-0) has opened the 2012-13 season with a pair of lopsided wins against Eastern Illinois (76-53) and Texas-Pan American (78-61) and the Braves will return to action Saturday by visiting IUPUI in a 6 p.m. CT game that will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
