PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore women's tennis player Meredith McDonagh (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley women's tennis team to a 2-1 record last week.
McDonagh combined for a 4-2 singles and double record in the three duals. At No. 4 singles, she earned straight-set victories in Friday's 6-1 win at Oakland and Sunday's 7-0 sweep of Valparaiso. McDonagh also teamed with freshman Elizabeth Przystawski (Prospect, Ky./Assumption) for wins in the same two matches at No. 3 doubles. Enrolled in Bradley's award-winning Academic Exploration Program, McDonagh owns a 3.32 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
McDonagh and the Braves return to action Saturday, closing out a four-match road swing with an 11 a.m. match at Kansas.
