Box Score PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Sophomore pitcher Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) did not give up an earned run in a complete game victory and sophomore Mariah Cole (Springfield, Ill./Chatham Glenwood) delivered the big hit with a three-run triple in the sixth to help power Bradley to a 5-3 win against Pacific Saturday at the Stanford Nike Invitational.
Three Bradley errors in the game led to all three Pacific runs, but the Braves collected 11 hits and Lynch-Crumrine went the distance without surrendering an earned run in the victory. Cole entered the game with two career RBI, but delivered the three-run triple in the sixth to help BU rally for the 5-3 victory.
Bradley (4-5 overall) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Senior Julie Sherman (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) led off the game with a single and scored on a one-out double by sophomore Bailiegh Basham (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land C.C.), who pushed her team-best hit streak to five games. Lynch-Crumrine helped her own cause when she drove in Basham from second with a double of her own as the Braves took a 2-0 lead.
Pacific's Megan Horn reached on the first of three BU errors in the game to open the bottom of the first for the Tigers (2-4 overall) and stole second. Nicole Matson later drove in Horn from third with a two-out infield single as Pacific pulled within a run at 2-1.
Sophomore Alex Chandler (Needles, Calif./Needles) led off the top of the second with a double, but Bradley came up empty in the inning and Pacific pushed two runs across in the bottom portion of the frame to go in front 3-2.
In the bottom of the second, the Tigers had the bases loaded after a pair of BU errors and a fielder's choice when Horn drove in a run with a one-out single to left. Megan Foglesong put Pacific in front 3-2, scoring Alexa Rivera on a fielder's choice.
Both teams left runners in scoring position in the fifth, before Bradley struck for three runs in the top of the sixth. Singles by freshman Shannon King (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty), sophomore Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) and Sherman loaded the bases for Cole, who ripped a two-out, bases-loaded triple to right to put Bradley back in front 5-3.
Sherman went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored, while Basham and Joseph both had 2-for-3 nights to highlight Bradley's offensive efforts.
Lynch-Crumrine scattered seven hits and struck out two in the complete game victory as she improved to 2-3 on the season. She lowered her team-leading ERA to 1.65 and has given up just three earned runs over her last 25 innings of work.
Bradley closes out play at the Stanford Nike Invitational Sunday with a noon (CST) game against eighth-ranked Stanford.
