ERIE, Pa. - Former Bradley pitcher Patrick Cooper (Danville, Ky./Boyle County H.S.) made only one appearance for the Class A Advanced Lakeland Flying Tigers before being promoted to the Double-A level.
Cooper debuted for the Erie (Pa.) SeaWolves Thursday and allowed one run on two hits and a walk, while striking out two, in 1.1 innings out of the bullpen in a 6-1 loss to the Bowie Baysox in Eastern League action.
In his third season in the Detroit Tigers organization, Cooper pitched at Bradley during the 2010 season before being selected by the Tigers in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. After going 5-6 with one save as a middle reliever for the Midwest League West Michigan Whitecaps in 2011, Cooper earned the save in his only appearance for Lakeland last Friday by pitching a perfect ninth inning to cap off a 4-2 road win against the Tampa Yankees.
Cooper is one of four former Braves currently playing professional baseball, all now at the Double-A level or higher. Dan Brewer also plays in the Double-A Eastern League for the Trenton Thunder (NYY), while Rob Scahill is a starting pitcher for the Triple-A Colorado Sky Sox (COL) and catcher Ryan Eigsti is on the disabled list for the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers (KC).
