PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) is third in the individual standings after firing a career-best 70 and freshman Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) is tied for fourth as the duo helped the Bradley men's golf team finish the day second behind Loyola-Chicago at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational.
Bradley shot rounds of 294 and 296, turning in back-to-back sub-300 rounds for the first time since October 2008. Loyola-Chicago (577) followed up a morning round of 287 with a 290 in the afternoon and holds a 13 shot lead on the Braves (590) at the par-72 WeaverRidge Golf Club. Bradley is seven shots ahead of third-place Wisconsin-Green Bay (597).
Loyola's Erik Hoops and Alex Cusumano are tied for the top spot on the individual leaderboard with 36-hole scores of 141.
Young continued his hot play, following up a career-best, two-under par 70 in the morning with a 72 in the afternoon. He is third in the individual standings at two-under par 142 and is one shot behind the co-leaders heading into Saturday's final round.
Trolia broke the Bradley record for rounds in the 70's by a freshman, pushing his season total to 22 with scores of 73 and 72. He is three shots behind Young in a tie for fourth.
Sophomore Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) is seven shots behind Young in a tie for 10th at 152 following scores of 74 and 78, while fellow sophomore Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) had rounds of 77 and 80 to finish the day in 18th at 157. Freshman Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) rebounded from a first-round 84 with a second-round 74 and will enter Saturday's action in 19th (158).
Sophomore Corey Verseman (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) is in the field as an individual and closed the day with a career-best 73. Verseman is tied with Weisenborn for 10th at 152. Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) also played as an individual and is 16th overall at 155 (79-76).
The Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational concludes Saturday with one round of play beginning at 8 a.m. at WeaverRidge Golf Club.
