HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- Freshmen Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) and Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) are tied for 28th in the individual standings and the Bradley's men's golf team is ninth after day one of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
Masrin turned in the low-round for BU in the morning with a five-over par 75 and finished the day tied with Trolia in 28th at 154 after a second-round 79 at the par-70 Prairie Dunes Country Club. Trolia followed a first-round 79 with a 75 in the afternoon as the duo enter Tuesday's final round four shots out of the top 20.
Sophomore Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) is two shots back of Trolia and Masrin in a tie for 34th at 156, carding rounds of 77 and 79 during Monday's action. Fellow sophomore Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) was one of three Braves to shoot a second-round 79 and heads into the final round tied for 43rd at 161.
Rounding out the scoring for BU is sophomore Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian), who ran his streak of consecutive rounds in the 70's to six with a first-round 78. Gunther finished the day two shots behind Young in 45th at 163.
Bradley is ninth in the team standings at 621 after rounds of 309 and 312 Monday. The Braves are 12 shots behind eighth-place Southern Illinois (609) and 21 back of seventh-place Illinois State (600).
Wichita State, which is ranked 37th in the country, has three individuals in the top 10 and finished the day with a two-round total of 581. Evansville is second in the team standings at 594 with Northern Iowa and Drake ending the day tied for third (595). Creighton is fifth at 598, while Missouri State is sixth (599) heading into Tuesday's play.
The final round of the State Farm MVC Championship is scheduled to begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
