Box Score

WICHITA, Kan. - Shortstop Erik Harbutz completed Wichita State's ninth-inning rally with a 2-run, walk-off double, lifting the host Shockers (32-22, 10-8 MVC) to a 7-6 victory versus Bradley (25-22-1, 8-13 MVC) Sunday afternoon at Eck Stadium.

Bradley has lost 29 consecutive road games at Wichita State and though the Braves have been tied or held the lead going into the ninth inning four times in the last five games, they saw their losing streak reach a season-high five games.

After allowing an early 2-0 lead slip away, Bradley scored once each in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings to take a 6-4 lead into the ninth.  Opening the bottom of the ninth against the bottom half of the Wichita State lineup, reliever Jacob Booden walked the first the first two batters of the frame.

Closer Danny Gifford (4-2) took over and fanned pinch-hitter Taylor Doggett before third baseman Josh Halbert made it 6-5 with an RBI single.  Left fielder Mike Tauchman's error allowed the tying run move up to third on the play.  Harbutz followed with his double and Halbert scored when right fielder Bob Schuch committed Bradley's fourth error of the day.

Bradley outhit its hosts, 9-7, and drew six walks, but the Braves stranded 11 runners.  Tauchman (2-for-5) and shortstop Jason Leblebijian (2-4) both had a double among their two hits, while catcher Austin Jarvis was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in.

Bradley starter Tory Doerr gave up four runs, but just two earned, while allowing only three hits in his 6.0 innings.

The Braves will close out the regular-season with four games next week, beginning with a Tuesday road game at Eastern Illinois.  Bradley will host Dallas Baptist in a 3-game set, beginning with a 6 p.m. game Thursday night at O'Brien Field.
