TOLEDO, Ohio -- Sophomore outfielder Max Murphy (Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper) was named the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (GLSCL) Player of the Year and sophomore pitcher David Koll (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater Area) was named a second-team all-league selection following the conclusion of the GLSCL regular season Sunday.

Both Murphy and Koll represented their teams in the 2012 GLSCL All-Star Game earlier this month and will take part in the GLSCL playoffs, which are scheduled to begin Tuesday.

Murphy hit .369 in 39 games for the Stark County Terriers this summer and led the league in at bats (168), runs (39) and hits (62).  In addition to ranking fifth in the league in batting average and second in slugging percentage (.637), Murphy tied for the league lead with nine home runs and was second in RBI (34).  A Freshman All-American for the Braves in 2012, Murphy was tied for second in the GLSCL with 14 doubles.

Koll was a perfect 3-0 with a 3.14 ERA in six starts and eight appearances overall, while helping the Licking County Settlers tie for the GLSCL regular-season title with a 24-15 record.  The left-hander was third in the league with 48 strikeouts, while walking just 11 hitters.  Koll ranked fifth in the league in innings pitched (43.0) and held hitters to the fourth lowest batting average (.211) in the league this summer.
