SARASOTA, Fla. – Sophomore Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) shot a one-under par 71 Sunday and is tied for seventh in the individual standings after one round of play at the 36th annual Pat Bradley Invitational as she helped the Braves finish the opening day of competition tied for 14th.
Lemek carded a one-under par 71 for the second time in her last three rounds and is tied for seventh overall at the par-72 Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club's Cypress Links course, four shots behind individual leader Taylor Gohn of Missouri, who fired a five-under par 67.
Sophomore Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) shot a season-best 77 Sunday to close the day in a tie for 43rd and a trio of Braves shot an 83 to round out the team scoring for BU.
Fellow Sophomore Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) was one of three Bradley individuals to turn in a round of 83 along with freshman Paige Jordan (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and junior Katarina Mangieri (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) as they all finished Sunday's action tied for 84th in the 90-person field.
Bradley shot a first-round 314 and is tied with Jacksonville University for 14th in the team standings. The Braves are 11 shots out of the top 10 entering Monday's second round. Tournament-host Florida International shot a one-under 287 and has a four-shot lead on the field. Maryland is second in the team standings at 291 and Daytona State College is third overall at 293. Southern Miss finished Sunday's play in fourth (294) and Missouri rounded out the top five at 295.
Cincinnati is 12 shots better than Bradley in ninth place, while Delaware and Bethune-Cookman ended the day in a tie for 10th at 303. Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake is five shots ahead of the Braves in 12th and in-state foe Western Illinois is 13th at 310. Bradley and Jacksonville enter Monday's second round tied for 14th at 314 and the pair hold a one-shot lead on Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Florida Atlantic, which complete the field in a tie for 16th at 315.
The second round of the Pat Bradley Invitational is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. (CDT) Monday morning.
