ST. LOUIS – For the second time this season, senior forward Alon Badat (Thornhill, Ontario/Westmount C.I.) has scored three consecutive Bradley goals, but for the first time, he is the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office Monday afternoon.
Badat led the Braves (7-4-2, 1-0-1 MVC) to a pair of 2-0 home victories last week as the only Bradley player to find the back of the net in the two games. After the Braves got on the board with an own goal in the 36th minute of Tuesday's game against Belmont, Badat scored a one-timer from Desmond Campbell's cross in the 51st minute for the lasting, 2-0 lead against the Bruins. He added a pair of second-half goals in Saturday's 2-0 win against Loyola Chicago, driving home a loose ball from eight yards out in the 69th minute, then making a long and magical run through Loyola's defense for the insurance goal in the 81st minute against the Ramblers.
Badat now has scored three consecutive Bradley goals twice this season and has taken over as the team's scoring leader with six goals on the season, third-most in The Valley.
Badat and the Braves will close out their season-long, three-game home stand Wednesday by hosting SIU Edwardsville in a key Missouri Valley Conference clash. Wednesday will be Bradley's Pink Game, as well as High School and Middle School Night at Shea Stadium. All fans who wear pink in recognition of breast cancer awareness will have the opportunity to purchase tickets at the $3 adult, $1 youth group rates and breast cancer survivors will receive free admission.
High school and middle school teams interested in attending Wednesday's game should submit a group ticket form for discounted tickets. The Bradley Soccer group ticket form is available at the Bradley Athletics Ticket Office in Renaissance Coliseum or online at BradleyBraves.com.
