ST. LOUIS – Ariel Dechter's run in the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championships ended with a runner-up finish in Flight 2 Singles and a fifth-place showing in Flight 3 Doubles Sunday afternoon at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
Dechter was attempting to become just the second all-time Bradley flight champion at the MVC Women's Tennis Individual Championships, following 1986 Flight 3 champion Cindy Schneider, but the Braves freshman dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision to Southern Illinois' Anita Lee. She teamed with Meredith McDonagh, however, for an 8-2 win against the UNI duo of Kearney/Wolfe to take fifth place in the Flight 3 Doubles Sunday.
The doubles victory was Bradley's lone win in five matches during the tournament's final day of action. The Braves will return to action during the ITA Regional Championships in Tulsa Oct. 17-20, then will close out the fall season Oct. 25-27 at the Drake Round Robin Invitational.
