PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Alyson Spinas-Valainis (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) scored a career-high 12 points and junior Michelle Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) tied her for team-high honors with 12 points, but South Florida owned a 62-36 edge in rebounding and held Bradley to 31 percent shooting as the Bulls topped the Braves 87-63 Sunday afternoon at Renaissance Coliseum.

Young picked up two fouls in the first 2:08 of the contest and played just eight minutes in the first half.  Despite Young having a seat on the bench for most of the first half, Bradley (2-2 overall) was able to hang with USF in the early going before South Florida (3-1 overall) grabbed a 25-15 lead with a 12-2 run.

The Braves trailed 41-28 at the half, but the Bulls opened the second period with an 8-3 spurt to push the advantage to 49-31 with 18 minutes left to play.  USF, which received 34 points in the last USA Today Coaches Poll and is third among the others receiving votes for the top 25, extended the lead to as many as 35 points en route to the 87-63 victory.

Spinas-Valainis also battled foul trouble in the first half, playing five scoreless minutes in the opening 20 minutes.  She was 3-for-4 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line in the second half as she scored all 12 of her career-best point total after halftime.

Young also had 12 points, two assists and two steals to help pace the Braves.  Senior Kelsey Budd (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) added 10 points in 29 minutes, while fellow senior Catie O'Leary (Janesville, Wis./Parker/Wisconsin) finished with nine points and eight boards in the loss.

South Florida snagged 24 offensive rebounds and held a 22-11 advantage in second chance points.  The Bulls outrebounded Bradley 62-36 and scored 46 points in the paint.  Inga Orekhova scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting to lead USF.  Courtney Williams added 19 points and 10 rebounds off the bench and Tamara Taylor scored 14 points in just 13 minutes as the duo helped the South Florida reserves collect 46 points.  Alisia Jenkins was one of two USF players to notch double-doubles, tallying 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Bradley plays Northern Illinois Thursday at 7 p.m. in DeKalb, Ill., to open a two-game road swing.
