Box Score ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Bradley managed just four hits off New Mexico starter Lauren Soles, who struck out seven Braves, as the Lobos posted a 3-1 victory against BU Saturday afternoon to open the second day of the Lobo Classic.
Both teams scored an unearned run in the first inning, with New Mexico (2-8 overall) plating a run in the top half of the inning on a passed ball.
Bradley (3-5 overall) answered with a run in the bottom half of the first and threatened to go in front before Soles pitched out a jam.
Junior Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) led off the Bradley first with a single before junior Marina Groenewegen drew a walk and junior Bailiegh Basham was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Joseph scored on a passed ball to tie it up at 1-1 and Bradley had the bases loaded again with one out after a Kendall Duffy walk, but BU left the bases loaded.
Soles limited Bradley to a bunt single in the third and the Braves were unable to capitalize on a leadoff walk to open the fourth, holding Bradley to just two hits in the first five innings.
The Lobos went back in front with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Karissa Haleman was hit by a pitch and Cassandra Kalapsa delivered the big hit of the game for New Mexico, belting a two-run homer to center field.
Kendall Duffy, who was 1-for-1 with a pair of walks, had a two-out single in the sixth and Lexi Cremeens connected for a pinch-hit, two-out single in the seventh, but Bradley came up empty in both frames as Soles earned the complete game victory for New Mexico for her first win of the year (1-2).
Junior Madeline Lynch-Crumrine took the loss for Bradley, dropping to 3-2 on the year. Lynch-Crumrine struck out five and walked none while scattering eight hits in the complete game effort.
Bradley continues play at the Lobo Classic later today at 4:45 p.m. against IPFW.
