FT. COLLINS, Colo. -- The Bradley softball team had a season-long, five-game win streak snapped with a 10-6 loss to Nebraska-Omaha Friday morning in the opening game of the Colorado State Classic.

Sophomore Alyson Clemente (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) extended her hit streak to a career best seven games, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI to push her team-leading RBI total to 18 for the year.  Junior Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) also continued her hot hitting, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored to help highlight the day for the Braves.

Bradley (8-7 overall) struck first after Joseph led off bottom of the first inning with a single.  She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and junior Bailiegh Basham (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land C.C.) gave the Braves a 1-0 lead with a RBI single to left center.

Nebraska-Omaha (14-1 overall) answered with three unearned runs in the top of the third inning to go in front 3-1.  Tara Trede reached on a BU error to open the inning and later scored on a two-out single by Campbell Ditto.  Amber Lutmer delivered the big hit of the inning, belting a two-run homer to right center to put the Mavericks in front.

Joseph led off the bottom half of the third with another single and Clemente drove in her 15th run in the last seven games, plating Joseph from second to trim the UNO lead to 3-2.

The Mavericks struck for four more runs in the top of the fourth to push the advantage to 7-2.  A two-out walk was followed by a single and Allie Mathewson ripped a two-run triple.  Lindsay Redding drove in Mathewson from third with a single and Ditto hit UNO's second triple in the inning to score Redding and give her squad a 7-2 lead.

The Braves scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out, two-run single by junior Mariah Cole (Springfield, Ill./Chatham Glenwood) and chipped away at the Mavericks' lead with single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull within one run at 7-6.

Junior Marina Groenewegen (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary/Southern Idaho) singled in the fifth and scored on a single by freshman Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy).  Joseph capitalized on another leadoff single in the sixth and scored on Clemente's second hit of the day.

UNO put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh, however, scoring three insurance runs.  Mathewson, who went 3-for-5 with a triple, home run and five RBI, followed a hit by pitch and single to open the frame with a two-out, three-run homer to push the Maverick lead to 10-6.

Ashton Hughes retired Bradley in order in the seventh to earn the save and close out the contest for UNO starter Dana Elsasser, who improved to 9-1 on the year.  Junior Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) took the loss for Bradley, falling to 5-4 on the season.  She struck out five and walked one in the loss.

In addition to Clemente and Joseph's multi-hit games, Basham was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Bradley as the trio combined to go 9-for-16 with four runs and three RBI.

The Braves continue play at the Colorado State Classic later today, facing tournament-host Colorado State at 2:30 p.m. (CST).
