FT. COLLINS, Colo. -- Bradley gave up an early run to Brown and trailed most of the game, but the Braves scratched together single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to rally for a 2-1 victory against the Bears Saturday afternoon at the Colorado State Classic.

Brown (0-4 overall) struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Avery Silverstein led off the Bears' half of the first with a single and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and single, before coming around to score when Kelsey Hom hit into a fielder's choice.

After giving up a run and three singles in the first inning, senior pitcher Mackenzie Camp (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone) settled down to hold Brown to just two hits over the final six innings.

Bradley (9-8 overall) struggled offensively early on against Brown starter Sarah Ropiak, who took a no-hit bid into the fourth inning and limited the Braves to just one base runner in the first three frames.

Junior Bailiegh Basham (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land C.C.) had a one-out double in the top of the fourth for Bradley's first hit of the game and the Braves loaded the bases with just one out.  Bradley came up empty in the inning, however, and went into the fifth trailing 1-0.

Back-to-back singles by Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) and Alex Chandler (Needles, Calif./Needles) to open the Bradley half of the fifth was followed by a wild pitch and Duffy knotted the game at 1-1, scoring when junior Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) reached on a fielder's choice.

Basham put Bradley in front in the top of the sixth with a one-out solo homer to give the Braves a 2-1 advantage.

Camp pitched around walks in both the fifth and sixth innings in addition to tossing a scoreless seventh to close out the victory.  She improved to 4-3 on the year with the win, striking out five and walking two.  Basham went 2-2 with a run, one RBI, one double and a home run in the win, while Duffy finished 2-for-3 with a run scored to help lead the Braves offensively.

Bradley continues play at the Colorado State Classic Saturday afternoon with a 4:45 p.m. game against 18th-ranked Washington.
