WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Bradley freshman shortstop Tyler Leffler was 4-for-5 with a double and three runs batted in, but Dartmouth (9-1) pounded out 18 hits en route to an 11-8 victory against Bradley in the opening game of a 3-game series between the two teams at the RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational Thursday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Park.

Bradley's 14 base hits were not enough to extend its season-best, 6-game winning streak.  The two teams combined to produce 12 players with multiple hits.

After Bradley pulled to within 4-3 through three innings, the Big Green broke the game open with two runs in the fifth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth.

The Braves clawed back with three in the bottom of the eighth and two in the ninth and brought the potential tying run to the plate after Leffler's 2-out, RBI single.  A David Compitello ground out ended the threat, however.

The two teams will meet again in a 4:30 p.m. (CST) game Friday at Chain of Lakes Park, then will conclude the series with a 2 p.m. game Sunday at Henley Field in Lakeland.  Sophomore left-hander David Koll is scheduled to take the mound for the Braves Friday.

GAME NOTES:  Bradley left fielder Mike Tauchman was 2-for-4 to extend his career-best hitting streak to 13 games and bump his season batting average back to an even .400 … Junior first baseman Greg Partyka was 0-for-4, but drew a walk to reach base safely for the 18th consecutive game … Tauchman and Leffler both have reached base safely in 13 consecutive games.
