Box Score OMAHA, Neb. – Bradley senior left fielder Mike Tauchman extended his hitting streak to 19 games with a go-ahead, 2-run single in the seventh inning, but the Braves (11-14, 1-3 MVC) could not hold the late-inning lead and dropped a 5-4 decision at Creighton (16-6, 3-1 MVC) in the opening game of a weekend series Friday night at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
After designated hitter Greg Partyka pushed Bradley's advantage to 4-2 by following Tauchman's base hit with an RBI single of his own, Creighton immediately rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Bluejays took advantage of two infield singles, a hit by pitch, a walk and an error to plate their seventh-inning runs. Makovicka scored what proved to be the winning run on Castagnini's 2-out, infield single.
The teams will continue their weekend series with a 2 p.m. game Saturday then will face each other for the last time as Missouri Valley Conference rivals in a regular-season game with Sunday's 1 p.m. contest.
