PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley left fielder Mike Tauchman drew three walks to set the school standard for reaching base safely and he added to his league-best total of runs produced by scoring three times, leading the Braves (15-25) to an 11-5 baseball win against Northern Illinois (18-24) Tuesday night at Peoria Chiefs Stadium.

With 222 career base hits, 103 walks and 18 hit-by-pitches, Tauchman now has reached base safely 343 times in his Bradley career, eclipsing the school-record of 340 previously set by Bradley Athletics Hall-of-Famer Nelson Correa from 1996-99.  Tauchman, who began the week leading the Missouri Valley Conference in both batting average (.416) and runs produced (73), dropped his average by going 0-for-2 when he did not walk, but added to the runs produced total by crossing the plate three times.

After Northern Illinois scored once in the top of the first inning, the Braves answered with five runs on five hits in the bottom of the first and never looked back.  Bradley broke the game open with four runs in the fourth for a 10-2 lead.  Third baseman Curtiss Bunch drove in three runs with a 2-run single in the first and a sacrifice fly in the third, but the Braves finished with only six RBI's, scoring once on an error and four times on NIU wild pitches.

Though he surrendered eight hits in 6.0 innings, Bradley junior John Nasshan (2-7) allowed only two runs, one earned, and struck out five to earn the win.

Bradley completed a 2-game season sweep against its in-state rival, outscoring the Mid-American Conference West Division leading Huskies by a combined 30-5 score.

In classic mid-week style, 37 players saw action Tuesday:  21 from Northern Illinois and 16 Braves.

Bradley will return to action Friday night, hosting MacMurray in a 6 p.m. game at Peoria Chiefs Stadium.
