TUCSON, Ariz. – Bradley senior outfielder Mike Tauchman (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd H.S.) has become the sixth player in Braves Baseball history recognized as an All-American, garnering second-team notice from Louisville Slugger as chosen and announced by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Thursday.

Tauchman is Bradley Baseball's first All-American since pitcher Doug Robertson also earned second-team notice from Collegiate Baseball, the American Baseball Coaches Association and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in 1996. In addition to a quartet of Freshman All-America award-winners, Bradley's all-time list of All-Americans includes ABCA honorees Lee Utt (1956), Wyman Carey (1957) and Mike Dunne (1984), as well as The Sporting News honoree Bob Koeppel (1971).

Prior to Thursday's announcement of the 2013 Louisville Slugger All-America team from Collegiate Baseball, Tauchman was announced as a semifinalist for USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award as national player of the year and the inaugural Gregg Olson Award, which is presented to the nation's “Breakout Player of the Year.” Online fan voting for the Golden Spikes Award continues through Friday at www.GoldenSpikesAward.com.

The 2013 Joe Carter Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, Tauchman continues to lead the nation with a .425 batting average and he ranks fifth with a .513 on-base percentage. Tauchman's .425 batting average in 49 games is the best-ever by a Brave with at least 100 at-bats in a season and is the best by a Valley player since Wichita State's Pat Magness led the league with a .464 average in 1998. Tauchman also leads The Valley by averaging 1.1 runs scored per game and 1.9 runs produced per game (a combination of runs scored, plus runs batted in, minus home runs). He also is second in the league with 28 stolen bases and his eight outfield assists are tied for the seventh-most nationally.
