Rockies Pick Tauchman in 10th Round

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Bradley senior left fielder Mike Tauchman was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft Friday evening.

Tauchman, the 2013 Joe Carter Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, was the 289th overall selection in the draft. He will join an organization that also selected Bradley pitcher Rob Scahill in 2009. Scahill has advanced through the Rockies farm system and is currently on the big-league roster.

Tauchman leads the nation in hitting and ranks fourth nationally in on-base percentage. A finalist for the inaugural Gregg Olson Award as the nation's Breakout Player of thenYear, Tauchman also has been named a second-team Louisville Slugger All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
