Injured Bradley men's basketball players Mason Alwan (foot) and Ka'Darryl Bell (shoulder) were unable to play during the team's trip to the Bahamas Aug. 11-16, but the two guards both contributed to Bradley's blog coverage of the trip. Below is Bell's second entry, recapping his first two days of the trip.
Day One: we got here in the afternoon and we didn't have anything basketball related to do, so everyone on the team went and got something to eat over in Marina Village. Everyone was shocked by the prices of the food here, but I guess if you want to live the luxury life you have to pay the luxury price. After getting food we pretty much just walked around the island and found things to entertain us the rest of our day.
Day Two: I started off my day with a hard workout with Mason Alwan. Since we can't play, we have to get some type of workout in for the day. After that we ate breakfast at a restaurant called Seagrapes, which was buffet-style and had a wide variety of food. After breakfast, myself and few other teammates went to the beach to relax for a bit, because we had a game later that night. After chilling on the beach, we departed for our game about 30 minutes away from our resort. I was in shock when I walked in the gym because, even though I know what a basketball court looks like, it was so different in my eyes.
We played a team called Commonwealth Giants, which was a pretty good team and they ended up winning by three points. After that loss everyone realized that these teams are not to be played with and should be taken seriously. After the game we went back to the hotel and had dinner to end off the night.
