PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Lauren Zerante (Elmhurst, Ill./York) tied a school record for digs in a three-set match with 22 digs, while fellow senior Amy Angelos (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) paced Bradley with 13 kills and five blocks to help the Braves to a convincing 25-16, 25-17, 25-12 victory against Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday afternoon during the second day of play at the CEFCU Classic.

Bradley (2-0 overall) used an efficient offensive attack, boasting the squad's best attack percentage (.350) since hitting .429 at North Carolina Central last August and Zerante topped 20 digs for the second time in as many days with a match-best 22 digs.

Zerante's 22 digs matched a school record for digs in a three-set match, which had been tallied twice previously.  Gillian Falknor was the last Bradley individual to collect 22 digs in a three-set match in Sept. 2005.  Zerante, who had 12 digs in the opening set, helped the Braves force 25 Maryland Eastern Shore (0-2 overall) attack errors in the victory.

Senior Alise Tupuritis (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) highlighted the BU attack in the opening set, notching six of her eight kills on the afternoon in the first set.  UMES scored the first point of the match, before Tupuritis had three kills during a 7-0 Bradley run and the Braves never looked back as they cruised to a 25-16 win.

Angelos helped lead the Braves to a 25-17 second-set win with four kills in the stanza, coming up with two kills and a block during a 4-0 BU spurt to close out the set.

Sophomore Kristi Chynoweth (Parkland, Fla./North Broward) entered the contest with 13 career kills, but finished with a career-best 10 kills on the day.  Chynoweth had back-to-back kills and three total during a 10-2 Bradley run to open the third set.  She finished with five kills on just 10 swings in the third set to help the Braves complete the sweep.

Angelos hit .458 in the match, finding the floor with 13 kills on just 24 attacks, while Chynoweth hit a blistering .588 (10 kills on 17 attacks) to lead the Bradley offensive attack.  With her 13 kills, Angelos moved up two spots on Bradley's career kills list into 18th (837 kills) and needs just 14 kills to move up two more spots.  Freshman Melissa Hoerber (Fulton, Mo./Fulton) had 20 assists and sophomore Jessica Teel (San Antonio, Texas/Claudia Taylor Johnson) served up a pair of aces to go with 13 assists to help lead the Braves.

Ashley Smith led Maryland Eastern Shore with eight kills and was one of just three players for the Hawks to finish the match with more than three kills.  Jingqiao Li had a team-high 16 digs for UMES.

Western Illinois (1-1 overall) opened the second day of play at the CEFCU Classic with a 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 victory against UT-Martin (1-1 overall).  Ann Miller led the Leathernecks with 25 kills while hitting at a .532 clip (25 kills - 0 errors - 47 attacks).

The CEFCU Classic continues this afternoon with Western Illinois and Maryland Eastern Shore playing at 5 p.m.  Bradley concludes the tournament with a 7:30 p.m. match against UT-Martin at Renaissance Coliseum.  The Saturday night matchup with UT-Martin will be Back 2 School Night and Camper Reunion Night.  The first 200 kids (ages 14 and under) receive a set of Bradley temporary tattoos.
