Amy Angelos Named Country Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior middle blocker Amy Angelos (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after earning MVP honors at last week's Omaha Marriott Classic.

Angelos averaged 3.33 kills and 1.42 blocks per set while boasting a .366 attack percentage in Bradley's three victories last week and helped the Braves to the tournament title.  She hit .400 and collected 10 kills on just 20 swings to go with four blocks in a sweep of Southern Utah.  Against SIU Edwardsville, Angelos matched a career-high with 20 kills while hitting .395 and also had seven blocks in a five-set victory.  She capped the week with 10 kills and six blocks in a four-set win against tournament-host Nebraska-Omaha.  A hospitality management major, Angelos owns a 3.27 cumulative grade point average. 
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Angelos and the Bradley Volleyball team return to action this weekend at the Billiken Challenge in St. Louis, Mo.  The Braves open tournament play Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Youngstown State.
