ST. LOUIS – Bradley senior goalkeeper Brian Billings (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's) has claimed the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time in the first three weeks of the season, according to an announcement from the league office this afternoon.

Billings made five saves in Saturday's 1-0 victory at #1/3 Connecticut, helping Bradley Soccer secure its first-ever win against the nation's No. 1-ranked team and just the second win all-time by any Bradley Athletics program against the nation's top-ranked squad. The five saves, all in the second half, also helped Bradley end UConn's 39-game (34-0-5) regular-season home winning streak and came in front of the largest crowd (3,977) to ever witness a Bradley Soccer victory.

The five saves also pushed Billings into fifth place on Bradley's all-time saves list with 271. Billings has recorded three shutouts in Bradley's first five games this season and is third in program history with 16.0 career shutouts. He was previously named MVC Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 3 and has earned the award four times overall in his career.

The Braves (3-2-0) will continue their 5-game road swing this weekend by venturing to Colorado, where they will visit Denver Friday night and Air Force Sunday afternoon. Bradley will return home to host #6 Cal State Northridge Sept. 28 (7 p.m.) on World Cup Night/President's Night Out and Soccer Alumni Weekend at Shea Stadium. Among the evening's promotions, the game will be followed by a fireworks show, sponsored by Avanti's.
