PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior outside hitter Alise Tupuritis (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after collecting her team-leading fourth double-double of the year in a sweep of Drake.

Tupuritis finished with a team-high 11 kills to go with 12 digs and also tallied two aces and a pair of blocks in Bradley's three-set victory against Drake Sunday to open Missouri Valley Conference play.  In addition to recording her 800th career kill against the Bulldogs, she helped the Braves win their Valley opener for the first time since 2005 and helped BU improve to 7-3 to start a season for the first time since opening the 2002 campaign with a 12-3 record.  A health science major, Tupuritis owns a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Tupuritis and the Bradley volleyball team face Southern Illinois Friday at 7 p.m. in Carbondale, Ill., in the first conference road match of the year for the Braves.
