PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley scored 11 points in the final 70 seconds of play to nearly erase a double-digit Wichita State lead, but the league-leading Shockers held on for a 74-72 victory to extend their win streak to a school-record 11 games Sunday afternoon at Renaissance Coliseum.

Bradley (4-11 overall, 1-3 MVC) jumped out to a 14-5 lead less than five minutes into the game before foul trouble and struggles on the offensive end allowed Wichita State to take control.  The Shockers (12-2 overall, 3-0 MVC) scored nine points in less than two minutes to erase the BU lead and knot the score at 14-14.  Wichita State followed a Bradley hoop with an 18-2 spurt, which included eight points from Jamillah Bonner, as the Shockers built a 32-18 lead with more than seven minutes left before halftime.

Wichita State led by double digits for most of the remainder contest, holding off several spurts by the Braves.  Junior Michelle Young (Woodbury, Minn,/Woodbury) highlighted a 9-1 BU run with a three-point play and five points, to cut the Shocker lead to six (56-50) with 12 minutes left on the clock.

Back-to-back Wichita State fastbreak layups on Shocker steals quickly pushed the WSU advantage back to double digits, however, and Bradley trailed 74-61 with 2:32 to play after an Alex Harden jumper in the lane.

Sophomore Fantasia Vine (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) had a layup with 1:09 to play to end an eight-minute stretch without a field goal for the Braves.  Harden was whistled for a charge on Wichita State's next possession and freshman Leti Lerma (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine), who made her first career start, made a pair of free throws with 41 seconds to play.

The Shockers missed the front end of a one-and-one and Vine knocked down a jumper with 23 seconds on the clock to pull Bradley with 74-67.  A moving screen on Wichita State's next possession gave BU the ball with 15.6 ticks left and a three-point play by sophomore Taylor Shull (Mt. Pleasant, Iowa/Mt. Pleasant) on a driving layup with 9.3 seconds remaining made it a two-possession game (74-70).

Young came up with a steal on the Wichita State inbounds play and was fouled shooting a three with 3.7 seconds to play.  She made two of three free throws, missing the middle attempt, and Wichita State was able to run out the clock after Young nearly tipped the Shocker inbounds pass following the free throw attempts.  The 74-72 win extended the Wichita State win streak to a school-record 11 games as the Shockers stayed atop the Valley standings with a 3-0 league mark.

Bradley had just eight players in uniform with senior Kelsey Budd (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) and sophomore Jenny Smith (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) both missing the contest due to injury.  Vine, who played with a mask after breaking her nose in Friday's game against Missouri State, scored a career-high 21 points on 10-of-20 shooting and also had three assists as she scored or assisted 13 of Bradley's 20 baskets.  Young was also in double figures with 13 points and three steals.

All seven Bradley players which saw the court scored at least seven points.  Senior Catie O'Leary (Janesville, Wis./Parker/Wisconsin) dished out a game-high five assists to go with her nine points and Lerma had eight points in addition to a team and season-high eight rebounds in her first career start.

Jamillah Bonner made five of seven three-point attempts and led Wichita State with 28 points before fouling out.  She was one of four Shockers to foul out of the game.  Harden finished with 15 points, seven boards, three assists, two blocks and three steals.  Michelle Price scored 11 points to go with her game-high 12 rebounds and five steals before fouling out.

Bradley opens a three-game Missouri Valley Conference road swing next Sunday with a 2 p.m. game at Loyola.
