Box Score PEORIA, Ill. -- Indiana State used an efficient offensive attack, hitting .292 and served up eight aces as the Sycamores swept Bradley 25-12, 25-14, 25-13 Saturday afternoon at Renaissance Coliseum.
Junior Kristi Chynoweth (Parkland, Ill./North Broward) notched a team-high six kills to pace the Bradley offense, while fellow junior Lea Sack (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) added 10 digs to lead the Braves defensively.
Bree Spangler highlighted Indiana State's (12-6 overall, 4-3 MVC) attack with a match-high 13 kills and hit at a .324 clip. Spangler also had three of the eight Sycamore aces to go with nine digs and a pair of blocks as she helped Indiana State tally seven blocks in the victory.
The Sycamores jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the first set and built a 13-5 advantage nearing the midway point of the frame. Indiana State pushed the advantage to as many as 14 points and cruised to a 25-12 win in the opener.
Bradley held a 7-5 edge in the second set after a Madison Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Chicago Christian) kill, but Indiana State answered with nine consecutive points to go ahead 14-7. Cassandra Willis highlighted the Sycamore run with three kills and three blocks. Spangler tallied seven of her match-high 13 kills in the second set and Indiana State hit .303 in the stanza as it held a two-sets-to-one lead after taking the second set 25-14.
Willis came up big again in the third set for the Sycamores, highlighting a 7-0 Indiana State run with two kills and a block to give her squad an 11-4 lead. Bradley couldn't overcome an Indiana State offense which hit .333 in the third as the Braves fell 25-13 to close out the match.
Bradley plays five of the next seven matches on the road, opening a three-match road swing Friday in Chicago with a 7 p.m. matchup at Loyola.
