EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Christian Volesky recorded a goal and an assist, leading host SIU Edwardsville (2-6-2, 2-0-0 MVC) to a 2-0 win against Bradley (3-6-0, 0-2-0 MVC) Saturday night at Ralph Korte Stadium.

Bradley suffered its second straight loss and dropped to 2-4-0 overall during its season-long, six-game road swing. The Braves will try to regain momentum at home, playing seven of their final nine regular-season games at Shea Stadium, beginning Monday night versus Denver.

Volesky gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, when he headed home a service from Andrew Kendall-Moullin at 17:48. The veteran Cougars forward then helped provide some insurance for the home side when he assisted Travis Houguet's goal at 34:38.

SIUE goalkeeper Kent Kobernus needed just two saves to record his second shutout of the season.

After opening Valley play with consecutive road losses, Bradley will step out of league play Monday when the Braves host Denver in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Shea Stadium. The game against the Pioneers will open a five-game home stand for the Braves.

Monday's game will be preceded by a special ring presentation ceremony for the 2014 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament champion Bradley Softball team. The 2014 team members will be presented their championship rings by two stars of the 2009 Valley champion Bradley squad - pitcher Ashley (Birdsong) Good and shortstop Miriam Wegmann.
