Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Freshman Jamie Livaudais (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) notched a season-best 17 kills while hitting .378 and Bradley collected season-highs of 10 aces and 12 blocks, but Indiana State was able to top the Braves 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 25-21 Friday at ISU Arena in Missouri Valley Conference volleyball action.
Livaudais reached double figures in kills for the second straight outing and third time in five matches with a season-high 17 kills to lead Bradley. Senior Madison Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Chicago Christian) joined Livaudais in double figures with 12 kills of her own to finish one short of matching a career-best.
Kamp had four kills on just five swings in the opening set to help Bradley hit .417 in the frame. Indiana State wasn't quite as efficient offensively in the first set at .323, but the Sycamores served six of their 11 aces in the opener and were able to pull out a 25-23 win to start the match.
In the second set, Indiana State held a 15-12 advantage after a Jessie Tulacka (Westmont, Ill./Downers Grove North) kill before the Sycamores seized control of the stanza with a 7-0 run. Cassandra Willis and Victoria Swigart each had two kills and a block to highlight the spurt for Indiana State as the pair helped the Sycamores to a 25-19 victory.
Junior Lea Sack (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) tallied six digs in the third set and Bradley turned in five blocks in a 25-20 win to force a fourth set. Bradley held a 21-17 lead after back-to-back kills by Kelsey Cave (Solon, Iowa/Solon) and Livaudais and the Braves were later up 23-18 after consecutive kills by Cordelia Murphy (Marseilles, Ill./Marquette) and Livaudais. An Indiana State attack error gave Bradley set point at 24-19 and Livaudais capped the 25-20 win with her 10th kill of the night.
The fourth set was tight throughout with the Braves pulling within two points (20-18) on a Livaudais kill. An Indiana State kill followed by a pair of Bradley errors gave the Sycamores a 23-18 edge. Livaudais had back-to-back kills and Cave added her second ace of the night to make it a two-point deficit at 23-21, but Indiana State responded with back-to-back kills of its own to take the fourth set and match 25-21.
Murphy finished with six kills and added five blocks to help Bradley to a season-best 12 blocks on the night. Sack matched her career-high with three aces and finished with a match-best 19 digs.
Willis paced Indiana State with 17 kills, while three Sycamores finished with 13 digs to pace the Sycamores defensively.
Bradley will play the final road match of the 2014 season Saturday when the Braves make the short trek to Redbird Arena for a 7 p.m. contest against I-74 rival Illinois State.
