PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Junior Shannon King (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) continued her hot hitting from yesterday with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate, which included a triple and three RBI, to help Bradley top Pacific 9-1 in five innings Saturday at the Stanford Nike Invitational.

After a 5-for-7 day yesterday, King drove in three of Bradley's nine runs and collected a triple for the second time in three games in her 3-for-3 outing against Pacific (1-3 overall).  Freshman Jaelen Hull (Clifton, Ill./Bishop McNamara) earned her first career victory, surrendering just three hits in four shutout innings.

Bradley (2-6 overall) jumped on the Tigers early, pushing three runs across in the bottom of the first and the damage could have been worse for Pacific had the Braves not left the bases loaded in each of the first two innings.  With a runner at third, senior Marina Groenewegen (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary/Southern Idaho) drove in the first run of the contest with a single through the left side.  Bradley loaded the bases with a pair of walks and Groenewegen scored to make it 2-0 Braves on a passed ball.  King capped the three-run first for Bradley with a RBI single.

Hull retired the Tigers in order in the second and senior Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) opened the bottom half of the frame for the Braves with a triple.  Bailiegh Basham (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land C.C.) was hit by a pitch and stole second to put runners at second and third.  Joseph scored on a wild pitch and Basham came around to score on a Pacific error on the play as Bradley jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

A Pacific error to open the bottom of the third opened a four-run inning for Bradley.  Joseph followed with a bunt single and the bases were loaded after a Basham single.  Groenewegen drove in her second run of the game when she grounded into a fielder's choice and the bases were loaded after senior Alex Chandler (Needles, Calif./Needles) drew her second walk of the contest.  Junior Alyson Clemente (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) made it a 7-0 BU lead with a sacrifice fly to drive in Basham and a two-run triple off the bat of King pushed the Braves' advantage to 9-0.

Hull gave way to sophomore Amanda Barna (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) in the circle in the top of the fifth and she gave up one run on two hits to close out the 9-1 victory.  Cassidy Gustafson suffered the loss for Pacific to fall to 0-1 on the season.

Bradley continues play at the Stanford Nike Invitational Saturday afternoon with a 2:15 p.m. game against 14th-ranked Stanford.
