PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore outfielder Brady Wilkin (Orland Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley baseball team open the season with a three-game sweep of Alcorn State.
Wilkin hit .700 in the weekend series (7-for-10) with a double, three stolen bases, two RBI and five runs scored in a three-game sweep of Alcorn State. In his first game of the year, he went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, one double and one stolen base in a 13-4 victory. In the series finale, Wilkin was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, a pair of stolen bases and two RBI to help highlight a 12-4 win. A mechanical engineering major, Wilkin owns a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Wilkin and the Braves will be in action this weekend, opening a three-game series at Arkansas-Little Rock Friday at 3 p.m.
